lu Arjun’s Pushpa 2 has officially become the ‘baap of all blockbusters’ with a record for the biggest opening day of all time in Indian cinema, with an estimated gross collection of approximately Rs 282 crore at the worldwide box office.
The Sukumar directorial has also shattered all records to emerge as the biggest opener of all time by beating SS Rajamouli’s ‘RRR’ which had earned Rs 224 crore on Day 1, as per trade analyst Manobala Vijayabalan.
The Allu Arjun-starrer has also left Prabhas’ ‘Baahubali 2’ way behind that had earned Rs 214 crore worldwide on first day. The action drama film has made an impressive Rs 175 crore nett on its first day with Rs 95.1 crore coming from Telugu, Rs 67 crore in Hindi, Rs 7 crore in Tamil, Rs 5 crore in Malayalam and Rs 1 crore in Kannada
This also makes it the highest opener in Hindi that was previously held by Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan with Rs 65.5 crore on its opening day. With good word of mouth, the film is expected to break more records in the coming days, particularly during the weekends.
Meanwhile, the film is having a dream run at the movie theatres and is expected to easily cross the Rs 1000 crore mark. Fans have to wait and watch if it can break the record of Prabhas’ ‘Kalki 2898 AD’.
Allu Arjun has been receiving a lot of love from fans for his performance as Pushpa. The stylish star is likely to return in Pushpa 3: The Rampage. Apart from Allu Arjun, the film also witnessed national crush Rashmika Mandanna in a pivotal role.
Hopefully, Pushpa 2 will become Allu Arjun’s first Rs 1000 crore film. However, Aamir Khan’s Dangal remains the highest-grossing Indian film of all time which made Rs 2500 crore after its China release, followed by Baahubali 2 which collected Rs 1788 crore during its run.
