Hailing from a modest middle-class family in Kolkata, Chef Joydeep has carved a remarkable
path in the culinary world. Educated initially in a Bengali-medium government school, he later
moved to Pune for higher studies—a challenging transition filled with a new language, hostel
life, and cultural shifts. Through resilience and determination, he completed his +2 from the
Pune Board and pursued a Diploma in Hotel Management from Oriental School of Hotel
Management in Kerala.
Chef Joydeep began his career with The Oberoi Group at Trident, Gurugram, and later joined
the prestigious P&O Cruise Liners. His dedication led him to complete a Diploma in CruiseGalley Operations and earn a Food Hygiene certification from the Chartered Institute of
Environmental Health, London.
Over the years, Chef Joydeep has made significant contributions to renowned brands like
Kenilworth, Club Mahindra, Ohri’s, and Speciality Restaurants Ltd. From launching the Italian
specialty restaurant Portofino in Goa to introducing the innovative Guntur Chilli Ice Cream in
Hyderabad, his creativity stands out. He also led the launch of major brands like Sigree,
Mainland China, and Oh! Calcutta in Ranchi.
Recognized as the “Best Executive Chef in Bengaluru” by G-Town Society and Le Fenix
Institute, he has also been featured in their magazine, merging food with fashion. His published
book, Life of a Chef, is available globally and serves as a comprehensive guide to the chef’s life
and kitchen essentials.
Today, Chef Joydeep is not just a seasoned Executive Chef, but also an author, YouTuber, food
consultant, and mentor. His message: “Hard work always pays off. Remove your wristwatch
while working—success doesn’t follow the clock.” His dream is simple yet powerful: to win
hearts through food and to be remembered through books.
